From the 31st December 2023 all XL bully dogs must be on a lead and muzzled in public places
From 1st February 2024 it will be illegal to own an XL Bully unless they are registered on an
exemption list and insured

We have decided we will continue to board XL Bully dogs, existing and new customers, this decision will be reviewed on an annual basis

Our Insurance company has agreed that our facilities are suitable to board these dogs and they will continue to provide us with cover.  There is an additional premium to pay and we have to comply with the following rules they have set out

  • We need to see a copy of their exemption certificate and insurance.
  • Only a senior experienced member of staff or the kennel owner can look after them.
  • They are kennelled and exercised on their own
  • They will only go out into the exercise area providing we are able to fit and remove a muzzle safely
  • If there are 2 XL bully's from the same household or 1 XL bully and a different breed of dog from the same household they would have to be kennelled and exercised separately
  • New customers will need to provide ID including address

We will have to charge an additional premium on top of our daily fee due to the additional insurance we have had to take out and the additional measures we have had to put in place.

If we think a dog could be an xl bully or xl bully type and they haven't got an exemption certificate we would need to see proof of the breed before accepting them for boarding

We are not satisfied with its breed, we will not be able to board the dog as we need to follow the legislations set out by the government and the rules from our insurance company - we need to protect our staff and other pets in our care.
